GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT – JULY 2022 IMPORT CONTROLS SUSPENDED

Jacob Rees-Mogg issued a Ministerial Statement on the 28th of April, which read that import controls on EU goods arriving into the UK from July 2022 will now no longer be necessary and traders will continue to move their goods that fall under certain categories, from the EU to GB as they do now (post 1st Jan 22 – 30th June 2022).
Please also note that the requirement for inbound GB Safety and Security declarations have also been put on hold.
Specifically, the following controls will now NOT be introduced:
The controls that had already been introduced since 1 January 2022 will remain in place.
The statement says that “businesses can stop their preparations for July now and that a Target Operating Model will be published in the Autumn that will set out the new border import controls targeted now for the end of 2023.”
