Covid-19 Vaccine Rollout

Matthews International Transport can now proudly announce that since early 2020, we have been playing a key role in the distribution and successful rollout of the Covid-19 vaccines across the UK and Europe

Matthews International Transport were required to provide an intelligent transport solution to the movement of vast quantities of Covid-19 vaccines utilising both our UK and European hubs to dispatch vehicles, delivering everything on time and in full with an added layer of forward thinking, security and special care required to manage such loads.

There have been many challenges so far associated with this project. Due to the high-profile nature of the pharmaceutical goods we have been carrying, our key Specialist Pharmaceutical Project Managers, along with other members of our highly skilled and engaged workforce worked together to create an intelligent transport solution for our customer. The solution provided involved a much higher security level, utilising our double driver crews on all specialist pharmaceutical movements, in-depth route planning to avoid ‘dangerous areas’ and in some cases, requesting and organising police escorts for our vehicles.

Extremely precise temperature-controlled transport with temperature data loggers running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with history being recorded and stored for more than the standard 1 year required for most pharmaceutical transport.
Advanced specialist route planning, taking known dangerous areas avoidance and routing via police stations where possible to throw off any unwanted attention.
Double driver teams continue to be incorporated in our specialist pharmaceutical transport operations for added security and speed.
Customer linked GPS monitoring – Our GPS Monitoring was upgraded to allow our customers the ability to track and monitor our trucks 24/7 and see route history using their own software or our own tailor-made tracking circuits.
